Please Help.....My Jeep has shorted out! Hello,
I am desperately looking for some seriously needed help. My beloved 2000 TJ is presently RIP. Approximately 3 weeks ago, my turn signals began to act up, only working about 20% of the time. Then one day I was making a right and I heard the strangest thing as the blinking sound was 3x's what it should be, yet no light was responding. Then, I was making a right, no turn signals were working, but by force of habit, I flicked the signal up and boom! out went my radio and cigarette light. They came back in about 15-20 sec. About 3 days later, long story short, my top was left off for hours during one of our tropical down pours. This led to my horn going off by it's own fruition to which I had to disconnect the leads. Now, I have discovered that something is draining my battery dry. I am lost on this one. Can anyone please help as I can not afford to take it into the shop. I hate being without my Jeep. Please please help.
Sincerely,
Patrick

One thing you can try is disconnect your negitive battery cable, place a -*test*-('") light between the negitive battery post and the negitive cable. If you have a short, the light should come on. Then pull (1) fuse at a time until the light goes off and that will be the curcuit that has the problem. Sounds like the problem is in the column with a connector that is shorted. Another thing to try is pull the shrouding around the column off and disconnect each connector and inspect for burnt areas or melted connectors. You should have about 6 connectors under the shroud.
If you need a wiring diagram, let me know. I have them all in color.

Hi Jeff Thank you so much for your advice on my problem. I have done as you suggested and I'm still showing an open draw. I could definitely use the diagrams that you offered as well as an other advice you may have. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Patrick

to help isolate the problem circuit, pull a fuse and go back and see if the draw still exists...if so pull another etc.
Good luck
