Starting after year and half parked
:( I tried starting my 89 Jeep.,after a year and half parked. Could the gas be bad or could there be water in gas? Help

if your not sure about the gas, try pinching off the hose just before the fuel gets to the carb (vicegrips or similar). Then take a cap full of fresh gas and drop it in the carb. If the motor catches/sputters/runs for a half second the fuel in the tank is likely bad. If the motor just spins and will not even sputter, check for spark. Pull one of the plugs out of the block and stick the wire back on the end and have someone turn the motor over while the plug is hanging next to/touching the block. If it sparks, you should see it. With those two -*test*-('") you'll at least know what deparment the problem is in. good luck..

Geezzz.... crank the thing up more often  Gas is probably bad for sure and ignition (points, etc.) are probably useless as well...... Try Arty's tips that should give you a good idea.
