Trail Ride Announcement for Saturday April 26th
All stock Jeeps are welcome and encouraged to attend. (Front/Rear tow points recommended ~ just in case) Date/Time/Location: Main ride occurring Saturday morning April 26th. We will meet in the Salt Springs Recreation Area campground parking lot at 8:30 am and start the ride at 9:00 am. If your not sure where this campground is located use google maps or similar and look for "Salt Springs, FL". The dot it puts on map is VERY close to the campground entrance. See my Photobucket site for a Ocala NF map that shows where the Salt Springs Recreation Area is located or for a General map of the campground. Any members that want to camp with us this weekend will need to contact Mike Cambron ASAP for a site reservation/head count. (see that forum entry for additional details or talk with Mike at the next Club Meeting) The plan is to start several trail rides from this campground throughout the weekend with the main club ride occurring Saturday morning April 26th. After reviewing many maps and satellite images I have selected route that will take us all around the northeast corner of the forest. In all my years of Jeepin I have rarely explored this section of the forest but I can see these roads from space. So I expect to find most roads have minimal overgrowth and a few challenging sections that will accommodate all Jeeps. This trail ride will cover a large area of the forest so please make sure you have a half tank of fuel or better for Saturday mornings ride. Here are some of forest road numbers I picked for this ride, so you'll never know how lost we could get :-) 43, 27, 24, 24a, 29, 43, 75-4, 49, 77d, 77-2, 71-1, 71-2, 82, 75-2, 85b, 85a, 85, 36, 9, 63, 61, 97-058 & 50 Conditions permitting, club campers can expect a night ride out to where the forest air is cool and the stars are bright. Sunday morning may be a great day for a canoe run or another trail ride but we'll see how the weather plays out. Recommended items for this trail ride: *** BUG SPRAY *** CB Radio (Trail Ride Channel is #4) Water & snacks for everyone in your vehicle. Camera Suntan Lotion

The camping part is for MFJC members only.

Club members will likely take a ride Friday and Saturday night. But that is not something I can really plan for because we may end up just having fun sitting around the campfire, telling tall Jeep tails, burning marshmallows on the end of a stick, and enjoying a frosty adult beverage one night. However, the club ride detailed above is just like every other club ride and open to all Jeepers. I picked the parking lot at the entrance so everyone knows where to meet up.

This was a sweet trail ride. We toured scenic sections of the forest I had never been to before. We are so having another ride to through the north end of the forest. No dates yet, keep your eye on the forum for details.

Thanks Arty! The trail rides were fun. No "Logs" were safe  Other than the washboard roads, we had a great time and look forward to another run in that direction. Jeff
